In 2012, Mirai, a middle school student, embarks on an adventure to a robot exhibition with her brother Yuuki during their summer vacation on Tokyo's artificial island of Odaiba. Unbeknownst to them, this visit coincides with the potentially devastating impact of an earthquake. According to recent data, there is a 70% probability that a magnitude 7.0 quake will strike Tokyo in the next three decades. As their vacation begins, an 8.0 earthquake on the Japanese Meteorological Agency scale strikes, causing landmarks like Tokyo Tower and Rainbow Bridge to crumble. Mirai and Yuuki's journey home to Setagaya in western Tokyo becomes a challenging task, with the help of a resilient motorcycle delivery woman named Mari whom they meet on Odaiba. As the siblings navigate through the aftermath of this natural disaster, their bond is strengthened, and they confront the harsh realities of life amidst catastrophe.
