In this introspective Swedish film, we follow the journey of Isak Borg, a retired doctor who embarks on a road trip from Stockholm to Lund to receive an honorary degree from his former university. During this emotional voyage, he is accompanied by Marianne, his son's pregnant and discontented wife, adding tension to their already strained relationship.As the duo travels through the Swedish countryside, they come across a series of hitchhikers whose interactions with Isak trigger an introspective exploration of his past experiences and personal shortcomings.
