Two Lives

Set in 1990 Europe against the backdrop of the recently fallen Berlin Wall, this film tells the story of Katrine who has spent her adult life in Norway after being born from a forbidden World War II love affair between a Norwegian woman and a German soldier. She leads an otherwise contented family life with her husband, daughter, and granddaughter. However, when a lawyer seeks her testimony, along with her mother, in a legal battle against the Norwegian government on behalf of the "war children," Katrine initially resists. As the layers of hidden truths and secrets are gradually uncovered, Katrine's life begins to unravel, forcing her family to confront the question: which holds more weight - the life they have built together or the lie upon which it was based? This poignant narrative delves into themes of identity, truth-seeking, and the courage to face one's past.
