Larry Donner, a struggling author with a bitter past involving an overbearing ex-wife, finds solace in teaching a writing workshop. Amidst his students is Owen, a young man tormented by his own controlling mother. As they bond over shared frustrations, Owen stumbles upon a Hitchcock masterpiece that uncannily parallels their lives. Driven to extremes, he propositions Larry: if the author agrees to eliminate his oppressive mom, Owen will take care of Larry's ex-wife.
