In the dusty, sun-baked streets of Vera Cruz during the 1940s, a tender yet melancholic tale unfolds. At the heart of it all stands Nacho, an indigenous man working as a waiter at Don Lázaro's café within Hotel Ofélia. Amidst the daily routine, he finds himself helplessly drawn to Lola, a tormented woman with a tumultuous past and a struggle with opium addiction and alcoholism.Lola is in love with Gardenia Wilson, a mysterious masked wrestler who has left a deep mark on her heart, but she knows their connection is precarious due to her own unstable mental state. Undeterred by the odds stacked against him, Nacho decides to pursue his affection for Lola despite knowing that it may lead nowhere but heartache.As the lives of these characters intersect, a dangerous web of political intrigue starts to form at Don Lázaro's café. A group of Republican exiles frequenting the establishment encourage Lola's desire for revenge against General Franco, blurring the lines between passion and politics.
