Description:
The film, set in Kersko - a small woody area populated by humble cottages and roads, captures the nuances of life as experienced by its inhabitants. This group of people, though ordinary in their daily routines, is filled with profound emotions; they derive pleasure from simple acts such as collecting useless items (as seen with Leli) or indulging in amateur hunting. The raw poetry of these activities unfolds alongside serene visuals of the surrounding landscape, evoking a nostalgic atmosphere.Director Jiří Menzel masterfully intertwines sentimental lyricism and rough humor, resulting in a vivid portrayal of life in harmony with nature. The acting performances are exceptional, with Rudolf Hrusinsky and Jaromír Hanzlik imbuing their characters Franz and Leli with an authentic charm born from pain and intoxication. Despite the movie's overall excellence, its use of film music may not meet everyone's expectations; Jiri Sust employs quotations from his previous works, which might detract slightly from the original experience for some viewers.
