The Running Man

In a dystopian vision of the future set in 2017, the global economy has crumbled, leaving society under the iron-fisted rule of a totalitarian police state. In this Orwellian world, cultural expression is strictly censored as the government clamps down on dissent and maintains control through fear. As a form of social pacification, a series of grisly game shows are broadcast for public consumption. These spectacles feature convicted criminals battling to the death in a bid for their freedom. The Running Man, hosted by the sadistic Damon Killian, is one such show. In this gladiator-style event, "runners" must outwit and evade vicious "stalkers" if they hope to survive long enough to be granted a pardon and released from their inescapable nightmare.
