The Reluctant Astronaut

The film follows Roy Fleming, a small-town man who finds out his father has signed him up for a space program, much to his dismay considering his crippling fear of heights. Upon arriving in Houston, he discovers that instead of becoming an astronaut as he was led to believe, he's been assigned the role of janitor. Despite this setback, Roy tries to live up to his father's expectations and maintains a charade of being a space program participant. As luck would have it, NASA decides to send a non-professional into space for testing an advanced automated spacecraft, providing Roy with the opportunity not only to face his phobia but also to prove himself as more than just a janitor. The film explores themes of self-discovery and overcoming one's limitations while balancing the complexities of family relationships and societal expectations.
