The Phantom of the Open

In 1976, Maurice Flitcroft, an unskilled crane operator with dreams larger than his golf abilities, embarks on a whimsical journey to enter The British Open Golf Championship qualifying tournament. Despite his utter lack of experience and the odds stacked firmly against him, Flitcroft's relentless optimism propels him into this prestigious competition. As he tees off in front of thousands of spectators, Flitcroft proceeds to shoot what would become the worst round in Open history. Rather than being shamed for his performance, however, Flitcroft becomes an unlikely folk hero and a symbol of the underdog spirit.
