The Oldest Living Graduate

Colonel J.C. Kincaid, a cantankerous Texas patriarch portrayed by Henry Fonda, finds himself at the center of a well-intentioned but misguided celebration organized by his weak-willed son Floyd (George Grizzard). Eager to gain his father's approval and exploit the vast land inheritance, Floyd stages a city-wide event declaring Kincaid as the oldest living graduate of a nearby military academy. However, instead of mending their relationship, the grandiose festivities only serve to intensify the Colonel's already caustic demeanor and deepen his misery. Adapted from Preston Jones' 1974 play, this moving drama was originally televised from Dallas' Southern Methodist University on April 7th, 1980.
