The Land

In the year 1933, the rural village is shaken by an announcement from its mayor: henceforth, the share of irrigation for their lands will be divided equally between them and the landowning figurehead, Mahmoud Bey. This sudden change in power dynamics brings hope to the peasants, until Mahmoud proposes a new project that would necessitate claiming a portion of the villagers' farmland. Seizing this opportunity, Mohamed Effendi is dispatched by the community to present their petition to the government officials, urging them to intervene and protect their rights in the face of Mahmoud Bey's ambitions. What follows is an engaging tale of perseverance, politics, and the struggle for equity amidst a rapidly changing world.
