The Girl on the Train follows the tumultuous life of Jeanne, a woman with a striking appearance but little else going for her. In an attempt to find some stability, her mother tries to secure her a job in the office of a lawyer, Bleistein, who was once involved romantically with Jeanne's mother. Despite not getting the job, Jeanne finds herself entangled in a relationship with Franck, a wrestler whose questionable business practices she blindly trusts.When Franck is arrested, he cruelly turns on Jeanne for her gullibility, shattering the fragile world she had built around him. Feeling betrayed and seeking attention, Jeanne fabricates a story of an attack on a train to divert focus from her broken relationship.
