The Gambler

Literature professor Jim Bennett struggles to reconcile his dual life as both an intellectual and high-stakes gambler. With a penchant for taking risks, he places everything on the line when he borrows money from a dangerous gangster, using his own life as collateral in the process. As Bennett skillfully stays one step ahead of his creditors by orchestrating a conflict between them and an operator of an underground gambling ring, he simultaneously catches the attention of Frank – a wise and fatherly loan shark who offers him an unlikely partnership. Through it all, the deepening bond with one of his students serves as both a beacon of hope and a potential obstacle in Bennett's quest for redemption and a second chance at life.
