The Edge

In the aftermath of World War II, amidst the bleakness of Siberia's hinterlands, a unique phenomenon is unfolding: Russians and Germans, both scarred by personal tragedies, find themselves morphing into each other's roles. Ignat embodies the seemingly invincible image of a Soviet war hero, but beneath his facade lies a shell-shocked, ill, and broken man.Trains become an obsession for these characters, their passion for speed bordering on mania; they almost symbiotically fuse with their steam engines, as if to escape the grim reality around them. The machines are anthropomorphized, given human names, further blurring the lines between humanity and machinery. In a daring and perilous pursuit, the protagonists engage in an almost fatal race through the Siberian forest, jeopardizing not just their own lives but also those of others as they navigate this complex and surreal landscape.
