The Commander

In the early days of World War II, deep in the Atlantic Ocean, the Italian Royal Navy's Cappellini submarine encounters an armed merchant vessel sailing under false lights. Led by the courageous and compassionate Commander Salvatore Todaro, the crew makes a decision that transcends wartime rules: they choose to rescue the 26 stranded Belgian passengers from drowning. To accommodate these unexpected guests on their submarine, the crew must expose themselves to enemy forces for three perilous days by navigating on the surface of the water.
