Story of Women

During World War II in France, Marie Latour, a mother of two, finds herself struggling financially. To make ends meet, she takes up the clandestine practice of performing abortions for women in need while also renting a room to a long-time acquaintance who works as a prostitute. Meanwhile, her husband, who has returned from the war due to his injuries and is now bedridden, is distant and uninvolved in their lives. As Marie's abortion business starts generating steady income, she soon becomes entangled in an affair with a younger lover, seeking excitement and fulfillment amidst the challenges of wartime life.
