Small Country: An African Childhood

Set in the picturesque ex-pat neighborhood of Burundi, a young Gabriel leads an ordinary life, full of laughter and playful escapades with friends and siblings. However, as tensions between neighboring Rwanda escalate in 1993, the idyllic atmosphere threatens to dissipate like mist in morning sunlight. The film follows Gabriel's journey as he grapples with a harsh reality that tests his innocence and challenges his understanding of the world around him.
