In the early '90s, young and ambitious Singaporean filmmaker Sandi Tan embarked on her country's first-ever independent road movie project under the tutelage of an elusive American mentor named Georges. Despite their collaborative efforts, the footage mysteriously vanished alongside Georges himself, who simply disappeared from her life. Twenty years later, a serendipitous discovery of the lost 16mm film reels resurfaces in Sandi's world. Now established as a successful novelist living in Los Angeles, she finds herself compelled to return to her roots and retrace the steps she shared with Georges - embarking on an introspective journey not only to locate his vanishing footprints but also to uncover the memories and experiences that once shaped her aspirations.
