In April 1988, on the tranquil Ouvéa Island of New Caledonia, a group of Kanak freedom fighters take 30 gendarmes hostage. As tensions escalate, 300 soldiers are dispatched from France to restore order and quell the rebellion. At the center of this volatile situation stand two men: Philippe Legorjus, leader of the militant squad, and Alphonse Dianou, mastermind behind the kidnapping. Despite their opposing roles, they gradually find common ground through shared principles and attempt to navigate towards peaceful negotiation. However, as a presidential election looms and political motivations take center stage, the path to resolution is fraught with violence and moral ambiguity.
