Description:
"Master," directed by Eduardo Coutinho, delves into the lives of residents at a 12-story apartment complex in Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana neighborhood. Spanning over four weeks in 2001, the film crew rented one apartment as their base to document the fascinating stories of the building's denizens. At the heart of this narrative is the dedicated building manager who transformed the troubled residence into a tight-knit family complex within just a few years. Through interviews and candid moments in the corridors, Coutinho offers an intimate exploration of this vibrant community.Inhabitants hailing from the lower middle class coexist within the building's walls, each with their own unique story to tell – sometimes with confidence, other times timidly whispered. The presence of a film crew piquing interest in their lives is a novel experience for some residents. A multitude of emotions are unearthed as doorways open to reveal hope, fear, dreams, memories, love, and loneliness within the seemingly ordinary confines of "Master."
