Manhã Submersa

Estefânia, a wealthy, stringent Catholic matriarch, becomes captivated by the plight of a couple of servants struggling to provide for their son, António. In a bid to shape the young boy's future according to her beliefs, she employs her influence to secure his admittance into the priesthood against the backdrop of 19th-century rural Portugal. Accepting this fate due to filial obedience, rather than religious fervor, António leaves behind a life of hardship and transitions into the oppressive environment of a seminary. As time progresses and he becomes further entrenched in the institution, internal turmoil and existential anxieties mount within him, challenging his path and the intentions that led him there.
