The film follows Steven Russell, who despite appearing as an ordinary organ player in church, devoted husband, and police officer, is hiding a secret. After a near-fatal car accident, he discovers his true identity – a gay man – and decides to embrace life with boldness, even if it means breaking the law. Diving into a world of extravagance, Steven engages in cons and fraud to support his lavish lifestyle. As a result, he is incarcerated at the State Penitentiary where he encounters Phillip Morris, a tender-hearted man with whom he falls deeply in love. With an unwavering determination to secure Phillip's freedom and construct the ideal life together, Steven embarks on a series of daring cons, many of which result in success.
