In the distant world of Arkanar, a team of compassionate scientists embarks on a challenging mission. Their task is to guide the native civilization through its medieval phase towards progress. However, they must tread lightly; interfering violently or causing death is strictly forbidden. As Rumata, one of these scientists, attempts to rescue the local intelligentsia from a harsh punishment, he can't help but become personally invested in their fate.
