In the backdrop of colonial India, the story revolves around Raghu, a passionate freedom fighter who orchestrates an attack on a train carrying British officers. Despite his father's staunch loyalty towards the British regime, Raghu firmly believes in the cause of independence and justifies his actions. Following his successful bombing operation, he is handed over to the authorities by his own father, only for his wife Parvati to devise an ingenious plan to save him. The ensuing events lead to Raghu's presumed death, leaving behind a grieving Parvati who gives birth to their son Ashok. Ten years later, Parvati holds onto the hope that her husband will return, while the family grapples with the aftermath of Raghu's rebellious actions and the wider implications of India's struggle for freedom.
