Glumov’s Diary

This short film serves as an insert within Sergei Eisenstein's modernized adaptation of Ostrovsky's 19th-century Russian play, "The Wise Man" (Na vsyakogo mudretsa dovolno prostoty). The protagonist, Glumov, finds himself embroiled in a chaotic situation full of acrobatics and daring feats, as he desperately tries to avoid being exposed. Interspersed throughout this comedic and farcical tale are cameo appearances from members of Eisenstein's renowned acting troupe at the "Proletkult" stage theatre in Moscow, adding an extra layer of artistic intrigue to this fascinating period piece.
