Detroit Metal City

Soichi Negishi, an aspiring musician from the provinces, moves to Tokyo with high hopes of making his mark in the world of pop music, inspired by the sounds of Sweden. Instead, he finds himself ensnared as the frontman of Detroit Metal City (DMC), a death metal band that could hardly be further from his original aspirations. His role as the "demon emperor" Johannes Krauser II requires him to adopt a terrifying costume and gory makeup, but it also reveals an unexpected talent for delivering intense performances in this decidedly unglamorous genre. Despite his personal misgivings about the band's style and image, Soichi discovers that he can excel at playing a role that he never intended to embody, as he navigates the complexities of the music industry, the demands of an obsessive fanbase, and his own conflicting desires.
