Departure

The film follows a week in the lives of Beatrice, a middle-aged English woman, and her teenage son, Elliot, as they prepare to sell their secluded vacation home in the South of France. As they go through the motions of packing up their memories, the teenager grapples with his burgeoning sexuality and feels increasingly distant from his mother. Simultaneously, Beatrice comes to terms with the reality that her marriage to Elliot's father, Philip, has become devoid of love, and she must face the impending end of a familiar chapter in her life.Enter Clément, a mysterious local teenager who subtly weaves himself into their story. He becomes a catalyst for both mother and son to confront their desires and, ultimately, each other. The film explores themes of self-discovery, the complexities of family relationships, and the challenges that come with embracing change in one's life. As the sale of the holiday house nears, so does the unavoidable moment when Beatrice and Elliot must confront the truth about their connection and their individual journeys towards acceptance and growth.
