Starting with the Torrey Canyon in 1967, the director documents several incidents like Olympic Bravery (1976), Böhlen (1976), Amoco Cadiz (1978), Gino (1979), and ultimately Tanio, which ran aground off the coast of Brittany in 1980. The tragedy led to eight deaths and a disastrous spillage of 15,000 tonnes of oil into the sea.
