Casas Muertas

In the desolate landscape of Potosí, a spectral remnant of its former self standing at an elevation of 1,185 meters above sea level, resides Justo Pérez and his family. Their ancestors were the last to abandon the town when it was engulfed by water three decades ago, but fate has an uncanny way of drawing them back. The passing of Jesus - no relation to the Biblical figure - forces the Perez family to confront the painful past they thought they left behind.The memories of crime and injustice that drove them away are rekindled with the swamp now serving as a symbolic and literal burial ground for their past. As Justo and his kin navigate this eerie landscape, the weight of unresolved issues looms large, challenging them to seek closure for the sake of their own peace of mind and heart. The film explores themes of guilt, redemption, and the lasting impact of human actions on the land and its inhabitants.
