The film follows Billy Bigelow, a soul who has been residing in the afterlife for fifteen years. Despite being denied the opportunity to return to Earth during his lifetime, he learns of an issue that has arisen within his family: his wife Julie and their unmet child are facing difficulties. Determined to put things right, Billy seeks permission from the gatekeeper to revisit the world he left behind. To gain approval, he must recount the events that led him to this point in the afterlife. The story is an adaptation of the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein Broadway musical, exploring themes of redemption, family, and the impact of our choices.
