Bread and Roses

Maya, a spirited and resourceful young woman, embarks on a journey from Mexico to reunite with her older sister Rosa in Los Angeles. Upon arrival, Rosa secures her a job as a janitor under a non-union cleaning service, where the overbearing supervisor has near-absolute control over employee wellbeing. The workers' union, however, is determined to bring their "justice for janitors" campaign to the building, enlisting the help of organizer Sam Shapiro. As Maya and Sam become romantically involved, Rosa hesitates due to her husband's declining health. Meanwhile, management employs tactics to divide workers and intimidate them into submission. This compelling narrative follows the intertwined lives of Rosa, Maya, and their fellow workers as they navigate their complex relationships amidst a struggle for fair treatment and recognition in their workplace.
