A Month by the Lake

Set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Como in 1937, the story revolves around Miss Bentley's seemingly serene annual stay at her family's Italian villa. Following the death of her London society artist father, she finds herself amidst an eclectic mix of brash Americans and, notably, Major Wilshaw. The major, whose libido has laid dormant since before World War I, experiences a stirring upon meeting Miss Beaumont - a young American who dropped out of finishing school in Switzerland. Bored with her new surroundings, she playfully flirts with the major, while Miss Bentley herself discovers unexpected admiration for him beyond his physical attributes.
