In the remote Siberian wilderness, an elderly man named Ivan and his seven-year-old grandson Leshia call a deserted village their home. The harsh taiga landscape is inhabited by a pack of feral dogs that ravage everything in sight, including Leshia's closest friend among them. Their relative Yuri occasionally brings food, but during one such visit, he meets a tragic end at the hands of the relentless canines. Stranded without provisions, Ivan and Leshia face an uncertain future.A heart-wrenching twist unfolds when Leshia witnesses Ivan shooting at his own dog in desperation. Terrified and heartbroken, Leshia runs away and is later found by Ivan trapped inside a dry well. Despite their best efforts, the old man cannot free the boy on his own. With no other choice, Ivan embarks on a perilous journey through the treacherous taiga in search of help. However, the relentless pack now hunts him down as he faces the unforgiving cold and harshness of nature in his quest for survival. Meanwhile, back at the well, Leshia patiently waits for the return of his father, clinging onto hope amidst the darkness.
