The Rocket

The movie revolves around Maurice Richard, a young machinist with exceptional ice hockey skills. His talent earns him a spot on the Montreal Canadiens team in the late 1930s, but frequent injuries cast doubts on his capabilities both by his teammates and fans. Undeterred, Richard exhibits his aggressive, skillful play that turns him into one of the all-time greats, nicknamed "The Rocket." Despite his success, he faces constant discrimination as a French Canadian amidst an English-dominant league. This injustice prompts Richard to voice his concerns, sparking conflicts within the organization and eventually resulting in his 1955 season suspension. This decision leads to a massive ethnic riot in protest. Amidst all these trials, Maurice Richard must determine who he's truly playing for and whether he should continue to uphold the values of the team while enduring such prejudices.
