In the summer of 1969, a young boy navigates life in the sun-kissed yet complex world of Key West. Living with his single mother who works as a stripper at a local establishment, he becomes aware of the harsh realities surrounding him. Despite his youth, he's confronted with the dilemma of his mother's job and tries to protect her from this adult world. Simultaneously, he joins forces with a local restaurant owner who tasks him with collecting fish from a boat in the bay. However, this job takes an unexpected turn as the boy discovers that these seemingly innocent errands are part of a larger illicit operation.
