Chasing Two Hares

In this comedic adaptation of Mykhailo Starytskyi's Ukrainian vaudeville, we follow the misadventures of Svyryd Petrovych Holokhvosty, a charming yet financially struggling barber. When he loses everything in a game of cards, Svyryd devises an ambitious plan to rebuild his fortune: secure a lucrative marriage to a wealthy woman. Enter Pronya Sirko, a rich but less-than-attractive lady who takes an unexpected liking to the dandy barber's charms. As Svyryd navigates the social landscape of late 19th century Ukraine, trying to win over both Pronya and society's approval, hilarious misunderstandings and mishaps ensue. This delightful comedy explores themes of love, vanity, and the lengths people go to attain happiness and social status.
