Tom Ripley, an American con artist with a knack for forging art, finds himself in an uncomfortable situation when he loses out on a rare painting at a Hamburg auction to Jonathan Zimmerman, a picture framer. Later, Ripley encounters Raoul Minot, a dangerous gangster who enlists him in a dangerous task - murdering a rival. Seizing this opportunity to exact revenge on his earlier slight, Ripley manipulates both the desperate and terminally ill Zimmerman into becoming his accomplice in the twisted plot, turning a personal vendetta into a chilling collaboration.
