The Sugarland Express

Lou-Jean and Clovis Poplin, two married individuals involved in petty crimes, are faced with an unfathomable challenge when they lose their baby to the state of Texas. Determined not to let go of their child, the couple decides to take drastic measures, stealing their son from his foster home while also taking a highway patrolman hostage. What ensues is a chaotic pursuit across the vast Texan landscape, with law enforcement hot on their trail in what could be a deadly game. However, as the couple's actions gain them support and admiration from people around Texas, they find themselves transforming into folk heroes. Surprisingly, the captive policeman, initially resentful of being involved, forms an unlikely bond with Lou-Jean and Clovis as they navigate this tumultuous journey together.
