Krippendorf’s Tribe

In an attempt to reignite his waning career after losing a significant grant, James Krippendorf, a recently widowed anthropologist, sets out in search of undeniable evidence to prove the existence of an unknown tribe in New Guinea. As he struggles to find proof, Krippendorf's three troubled children become the focus of his desperate efforts, transforming them into the Shelmikedmu – a fictional primitive culture whose intriguing customs capture the fascination of scholars worldwide. The family, donning grass skirts and elaborate makeup, stages elaborate rituals to maintain the facade and keep up appearances. However, their secretive deception takes an unexpected turn when a rival anthropologist threatens to expose their charade, prompting Krippendorf himself to join in on the act and protect his family's newfound sense of purpose.
