In a small village, Catherine Solska navigates through the tumultuous emotional landscape of entrance examinations for the faculty of pedagogy. Returning home with mixed feelings after the exams, she finds herself enveloped in a new dilemma when her family begins preparing for her engagement to their wealthy neighbor, Kolasa. Despite her protestations, Catherine is confined to her room as the wedding preparations continue around her. She seeks solace in visiting her fiancé but ultimately escapes and calls the university to check on her application status. However, she receives misleading information that leads her to believe she was not accepted. Resigned to her fate, Catherine agrees to the wedding, only for the postman to deliver a shocking twist on the eve of the ceremony - her acceptance letter from the university. The film beautifully portrays the complex interplay between personal ambitions and societal expectations as it explores themes of love, family, and the pursuit of education.
