The Scarlet Letter

In the rigid, puritanical society of Boston during the mid-1600s, Hester Prynne, a skilled seamstress, faces social exile after giving birth to a child fathered by a respected reverend. Unwilling to disclose her lover's identity, she is publicly shamed and required to bear the weight of her transgression in the form of a crimson "A" sewn onto her clothing.
