In the serene Swedish hamlet of Högboträsk, life unfolds at a tranquil pace where crime is virtually non-existent. The law enforcement officers in this close-knit community spend their days savoring coffee and hot dogs while occasionally herding escapee cattle back to their homes. This idyllic existence poses a predicament for the local police, as the higher-ups in charge of the force question the necessity of maintaining a police presence due to the lack of criminal activity. The movie explores themes such as the role and purpose of law enforcement in a society with little crime, as well as the sense of community and camaraderie between the officers and the villagers who rely on them for their peace of mind.
