In ancient Lybia, a fearsome basilisk - a dragon-like creature with the power to turn its victims into stone - falls victim to the same curse when a golden scepter is used against it during a solar eclipse. Two millennia later, modern-day archaeologist Harrison 'Harry' McColl unearths both the cursed basilisk and several petrified humans during an expedition in Lybia.Ignoring the cryptic warning of the local tribe, Harry brings his discoveries back to his university in Colorado, where they are displayed as a museum exhibit during another solar eclipse.
