Fateless

"Born into a world of uncertainty and darkness during World War II, György Köves' life at Buchenwald forces him to confront the harsh realities of humanity. As a 14-year-old, György faces immense challenges as he adapts to his new life in a forced labor camp after his father is separated from him. As he takes up work at a brickyard, a tragic event further solidifies his place amongst those fighting to survive. The cruelty and suffering experienced in this environment mold György's perspective on dignity, self-esteem, hatred, and the complexities of identity he must navigate upon potential return to Budapest. The cinematography skillfully juxtaposes sepia, black and white, and color, allowing for an emotionally charged exploration into the depths of this dark period in history."
