Last Life in the Universe

The film introduces us to an introverted, obsessive-compulsive Japanese librarian, who has chosen Bangkok as his new home. He spends his days in solitude, grappling with deep feelings of despair and contemplating suicide within the confines of his apartment. However, when he accidentally witnesses the tragic death of a young girl on the streets of Bangkok, everything changes. The ensuing interaction with her older sister unexpectedly presents him an opportunity to form a bond, one that allows him to explore new perspectives on life and human connection. As their relationship unfolds, the librarian finds solace in helping her navigate through loss and grief, ultimately beginning his own journey towards healing and acceptance.
