"The story follows the meteoric rise of Tommy Vanda (played by Joe Don Baker), a dockworker in Chicago who transforms into an influential labor leader inspired by the real-life figure of Jimmy Hoffa. As his power and influence grow, so does the scrutiny from governmental authorities. Eventually, Vanda finds himself in federal prison where he remains until his mysterious disappearance at the hands of shadowy figures never to be seen again.
