Mafia Is Not What It Used to Be

The film is set in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, and unfolds in 2017, two and a half decades after the brutal assassinations of anti-mafia judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino. As a tribute to these fallen heroes, public events are organized in their honor; however, Letizia Battaglia, a photographer who has documented the relentless battle against the mafia, expresses her disillusionment with the superficial nature of some individuals involved. Among them is Ciccio Mira, a businessman capitalizing on these commemorations for his own gain. The movie explores Battaglia's biting critique of this opportunistic exploitation of tragedy and delves into themes of corruption, memory, and the enduring fight against organized crime in Italy.
